USEEIO database
US Environmentally-Extended Input-Output (USEEIO) is a combined economic-environmental model for the US market based on input-output tables from the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA). These tables are paired with environmental data on resource use and releases of pollutants from various public sources in the form of satellite tables, as well as indicators of potential environmental and economic impact. USEEIO provides a robust resource for estimating the potential impacts—environmental and economic—associated with the production or consumption of goods and services.
USEEIO data library is included in SimaPro Craft and available for all users.

Why choose USEEIO database?
Unique coverage of the US market
USEEIO includes over 400 commodity classes of the US market, based on the input-output tables from the Bureau of Economic Analysis covering the breadth of US economic activity.
Complete and comprehensive data
USEEIO enables covering otherwise uncovered areas within a life cycle and complements financial data.
Database contents
The USEEIO library implemented in SimaPro Craft was retrieved from its repository in the Federal LCA Commons. The specific version of the USEEIO model used is USEEIO v2.0.1-411. This form of the model is a life cycle inventory model consisting of unit processes for each of the 411 commodities which results in a comprehensive and complete life cycle inventory database of the US.
Time period
- Base year economic data: 2012
- Base years environmental data: 2010-2016
Geography
v2.0 is a single region model with the 50 states of the United States modeled as a single region. US Territories and Tribal Lands are not included. Domestic and rest of the world (RoW) impacts can be split out in the model calculations.
Please note that this model should be appropriately cited (Ingwersen et al. 2022) when used. Any changes or derivations of this model by the user should be documented. The model itself and any results from use of this model shall not be construed to constitute U.S. EPA opinion or policy.
