ecoinvent EN15804
The ecoinvent database is a life cycle inventory (LCI) database that supports various types of sustainability assessments. Different system models are available, including the Allocation, cut-off, EN15804 model which was specifically developed to meet the needs of Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) practitioners. This system model is fully compliant with ISO 14025, ISO 21930 and EN15804+A2:2019, and adheres to the end-of-waste criteria set by the European Commission.
Why choose ecoinvent EN15804?
ecoinvent EN15804 system model is fully compliant with ISO 14025, ISO 21930 and EN15804+A2:2019. Additionally, it includes a method that facilitates calculating the EN 15804+A2 impact assessment and life cycle inventory indicators in one go.
How does ecoinvent EN15804 differ from other system models?
The “Allocation, cut-off, EN15804 system model” follows the underlying principles of the cut-off approach. The classification of exchanges into allocatable, recyclable, and waste determines the fate of the exchanges during allocation. Similar to the cut-off system model, producers of waste bear the burden of the waste treatment, based on the “polluter pays” principle. Consumers of recycled products receive them burden-free.
The key differences of the Allocation, cut-off, EN15804 compared to the Allocation, cut-off by classification system model are:
- The cut-off point between the primary and secondary system
- The calculation of the inventory indicators required in EPDs
