BAFU:2025

The Swiss Federal Administration’s life cycle inventory (LCI) database, BAFU:2025, offers over 11,000 third-party reviewed and mostly disaggregated datasets across 176 categories—from construction to waste management. Background reports are also available. This database is freely available under the Swiss Open Government Data strategy and the action plan for sustainable development 2024-2027.

The BAFU:2025 database in SimaPro

Compatibility: Thanks to harmonization by the SimaPro database team, this library is compatible with all SimaPro methods in SimaPro, including Environmental Footprint 3.1 (adapted) and Ecological Scarcity (UBP2021) impact assessment methods.

Regionalization: BAFU implements regionalization for some regions, such as Switzerland and Europe.

Updates: The database reflects the latest technological developments and is continuously updated. The Swiss Federal Administration welcomes partnerships for updates and new LCIs.

This library is available in SimaPro format (as both unit and system libraries) and is provided as an additional download for current clients through the migration offer; clients from 8 April 2026 onwards automatically have access.
